Maintenance
Maintenance
Maverick CNC systems are well known for their accuracy and reliability. However, to make sure that you always get the most out of your Maverick machine, it is important that it be keep it clean and perform routine maintenance. Regularly maintaining your table will optimize cut quality and significantly increases the service life of the table’s components.
The maintenance presented in the following section is based on a 40-hour week schedule. Any system that exceeds this value must have a maintenance schedule specific to its use.
CAUTION: Using lithium grease or WD-40 for lubrication can cause premature wear of the component.
Water Level:
- Fill your bed until there is about a ¾” gap between the water and the material.
NOTE: Higher water levels will do a better job capturing smoke. The downside to higher water levels is that the quality of the cut will be affected. Find the correct balance for your purposes.
Check Before Start-up
Before operating the machine, perform the following visual checks:
1. Make sure that nothing blocks or can come into contact with the bridge during its movements (plan out a safe path to avoid collisions).
2. Check that nothing is clogging the cable track to ensure that it is not damaged while moving.
3. Verify gas/compressed air pressure to ensure that the system functions properly.
4. Check the edge of the table to make sure there are no leaks or loose metal pieces.
5. Check air quality (air needs to be clean and dry)
6. Check the torch lead wiring to make sure there is no risk of it getting caught.
7. Check the consumables and ensure that the correct consumables are installed for the intended use.
1. Ensure that no metal residue clogs the magnets of the torch positioning system.
- Safely us compressed air to remove any debris.
- Using
the compressed air, carefully clean the proximity sensor on the height control
system. You can also wipe the sensors off with a semi-damp cloth.
2. Remove any dust or dirt on the V guides located on gantry, as well as on the tub. - Clean the V guides with a scouring sponge (Scotch-Brite RED)
-Lubricate Surfaces with dry lubricant (ex. Dry Graphite Spray) or any non-penetrating lubricant
Weekly Maintenance:
1. Remove and clean the air filter located on the electronic control box.
-When necessary, replace the filter to help preserve lifespan of
cabinet’s internal devices.
2. Check
fluid levels of auxiliary systems. - Empty the fluids and clean the filters -
Fill the tanks with fluids as needed
. Lubricate the linear bearing systems of the height control system.
Monthly Maintenance:
1.
Clean the racks of the (X) and (Y) and
lubricate them again (Dry Graphite).
-using a steel brush, remove any residue stuck to the surface
-before lubricating, blow compressed air over racks
2. Gearbox and Rack/Pinion inspection.
- Check the rack and gear for wear
- Check the belt for wear and proper tension
3. Verify tightness of the screws and bolts of your machine.
4. Inspect the cable chain.
- Check that it is secure
- Remove any debris that could damage the chain or the cabling (blow off with compressed air).
Annual Maintenance:
1. Check the condition and connection of cables and wires on all electrical panels
- Make
sure all the wire are not chafed or cut
- Check
that the connectors are intact and tight
2. Clean the panel with a compressed air gun (use light air pressure and do not blow dust into motors. Blow away)
3. Replace
the air filter on the Hypertherm Plasma Unit.
