SilverCut/Maverick - How to use Arc Fitting

Arc Fitting

Sometimes when you import a drawing or create text the curves in your drawing will have a lot of small straight lines creating the curve instead of a smooth arc. The arc fitting tool takes those small lines and turns them into arcs. This helps clean up your drawing, reduce the amount of lines in the G-Code, helps your software run faster and more efficiently, helps your table run better, and will help with the quality of your parts. I will be using an imported image as an example.

1.  After importing the image, ungroup it and highlight the whole image to see if it needs to be smoothed out

2.  While the drawing is highlighted, click on the arc fitting tool

-  The are fitting tool is on the far right of the ribbon and looks like an infinity symbol

3.  When you click on the Arc Fitting Tool you will see the parameters on the right of the screen show “tolerance”

-  As the tolerance is increased the new curve will be represented by the blue line over the red.

-  As the you increase the tolerance you will see the blue line get smoother and larger.

-  The perfect number for your drawing will changed based on the scale. Play with the tolerance to find the right number for you.

-  Too much tolerance will result in a misshapen part.

-  Once you find the right number, click enter or the green check mark to accept.

-  Remember you can always use Undo and Redo to correct mistakes.

4.  Highlight your part again to see how the arc fitting worked.
